"…"

Upon seeing Ren Ye, Deng Ming felt slightly awkward as he curled his lips into a twitching smile and walked up toward him. Although he emitted arrogance with each step he took, Deng Ming gradually warmed up.

"You!"

"We need to talk."

Deng Ming spoke in a high-pitched tone, his tone demanding Ren Ye to pay him some attention but Ren Ye turned to glance at him with nonchalant eyes.

"There's nothing to talk about," Ren Ye said coldly as he walked past Deng Ming and to the entrance of the building.

Deng Ming sneered and went out of his way to block Ren Ye's path, he was rather flustered as his face became increasingly crimson and he muttered loudly.

"Why does my dad like you so much?"

"Ask your dad, not me."

Ren Ye didn't have time to bother with this rich second generation as Deng Ming placed his hand on his shoulder to stop him from walking away.

"I have dealt with the problem from last time, they all got an arrest warrant but Sun De's case was dismissed decisively when dad tried to get him involved."

"He has gone missing for two days now and there are no calls from him. I have tried everything and every source to find him but I didn't get anything back."

"I'm afraid he went missing."

As he spoke, his face became frantic as his eyes darted across Ren Ye's face uncontrollably and his words were filled with anxiety.

As soon as he stopped speaking, Ren Ye listened to him and he suddenly curled his lips into an interesting arc.

He raised his head and asked Deng Ming casually, despite the young man's anxiety.

"What did your dad say about him to the police?"

"He simply added that Sun De may be the cause of these gangsters roaming the city but he never explicitly confirmed it was him."

Dammit! This is what I had expected!

Ren Ye grimaced inside his head as he complained, "He didn't listen to what I told him about Sun De. I mentioned specifically that Sun De isn't easy to deal with, he should have gone and contacted his father instead of reporting to the police."

"I must say he is rather ignorant despite being in a high prolific standing, believing the law of this city will be able to restrict them," Old Yi chuckled mockingly.

"It is his fault for being ignorant of his son's friends."

Sometimes being old can lead one to be ignorant of the current society, he sincerely believed reporting and telling the truth will help him and his son out of trouble.

Sometimes it is better to keep certain things out of your mouth when talking to them, they can't be truly trusted due to their positions being occupied by a much stronger force.

Ren Ye deeply believed he must have been kidnapped and taken by the police to Sun De.

Old Yi suddenly stopped and asked Ren Ye in a low tone, "Are you planning to go and find him?"

"I don't know."

"I may if I have time." f reewebnovel.com

Ren Ye replied frankly and turned to look at Deng Ming with a calm face.

"Has he left anything behind? A message?"

Deng Ming became stiff and shook his head, "I can't recall anything else but I remember he said he will be going to a cafe to meet his friend and to talk about business."

Ren Ye's eyes narrowed coldly as he thought with great interest, could it be he had been lured into a trap? It couldn't possibly be Sun De because it was too much to expect from him.

"Which friend?"

"Professor Liang of the History Department from Beikang University."

"Mm?"

Ren Ye raised his eyebrows and became intrigued by this name, Professor Liang, he has heard of him before when he was still a university student.

Professor Liang was a popular and accomplished History Professor in the country, he often visits other universities to give speeches and lectures.

I recall I met him once when I took his class, I felt he was a rather eccentric and strange man. He often brings up his female students whenever he is lecturing me and my friends, complimenting them on how nice they appeared and how he wished there were more female students in the classroom.

Ren Ye hummed and nodded his head slightly, "Oh, I think I know him."

It was true the old Ren Ye admired him for his dedication to preserving the history of this country, but the current Ren Ye didn't feel anything toward this man.

"Will you help me figure out where he is?"

"No."

"…"

In the face of Deng Ming's hopeful expression, Ren Ye ruthlessly rejected him and replied with a deadpan expression.

"He is your father, you should look for him yourself. It is not my place to interfere with whatever he is doing."

Plus, I have many things I need to do. I need to find time for my daughter and discussion with Jing Xue as well, I can't keep adding problem after problem onto my own shoulders.

"But he likes you more than me."

Deng Ming raised his voice at Ren Ye slightly, prompting Ren Ye to raise his eyebrows with interest and smile at him.

The smile was chilling to the bone.

"What does that have to do with finding his whereabouts?"

Deng Ming bit his lips and lowered his head, "He doesn't like me making trouble."

"Mm?"

"There won't be anyone to look after the company if I go out to find him. He loves his company more than anything, it was the creation and effort your father and my father put in together."

Ren Ye didn't speak and continued to raise his eyebrows, indicating to him to elaborate.

Such excuses won't work on him.

After a while, Deng Ming sighed and crouched down gloomily. He glanced toward his toes and looked as though he was about to burst into tears.

He bit his lips and held back his tears, "We have never gotten along as father and son."

"I feel like he will be disappointed if he finds out it was me who found him instead of you."

"He has always considered you as his son when your father went missing…"

"My mother left him because of his absolute dedication to helping you find your father. She died in a car accident and he didn't attend her funeral because he was in Germany at that time."

Deng Ming blurted out everything in front of Ren Ye's face, Ren Ye shifted his head slightly and his face remained unchanged.

"Seriously, he is a good man but ignorant."

Old Yi couldn't help but add amusingly. free(w)ebnovel

Ren Ye didn't speak for a long time and allowed Deng Ming to speak his mind, he curled his lips into a mocking smile.

"Your father is a good man but unfortunately, you never seemed to be able to get his attention."

"He was worried about your wellbeing every day despite him being a complete outsider, he never put me in his eyes," Deng Ming cried out angrily, his pent-up frustration seemed to burst out at this moment.

"I am not asking you to help me but to change your cold attitude toward my dad."

Deng Ming suddenly relaxed and his tone cooled down, it became increasingly low.

"Whenever I see your nonchalant expression and my dad's constant effort to satisfy you angers me to the bones."

"Mm? I never asked him to do it, it was on his own accord."

Ren Ye didn't appear swayed by him, his eyes became colder and colder. He curled his lips and muttered coldly.

"Have you put in any effort to make him proud of you? Who are you to order me?"

The last time someone ordered me around, I killed him using pest poison made from poisonous plants and combining them all together.

Seriously, I never asked his dad to bootlick me whenever he sees me. Why is his son the one who is mad instead of his own dad?

Ren Ye respected Uncle Jie but what he didn't respect was his child, Deng Ming, who was rather childish and immature.

"You are one year younger than me and yet you never seem to consider doing anything outside his protected circle, you are the last person I expect to order me."

"I hope you grow up and realize some things must be done by you as they are your responsibilities as a son and a man."

Deng Ming stopped speaking and his bite marks were bleeding on his lips, he was holding back the urge to smack him across his mouth but that didn't stop Ren Ye from scolding him.

"I have done many things on my own, tell him I don't need his pity."

Since they were arguing, Ren Ye felt the need to mention a certain woman he met at the hotel. He didn't specify her name since he didn't know her full name but Deng Ming knew he knew that woman was his lover.

Why not add fuel to the fire at its hottest peak?

"Also your choice of women is poor."

"…"

Deng Ming was taken aback and completely lost his anger with Ren Ye, he suddenly grabbed Ren Ye by his neck and raised his fist. His veins became visible and blue, protruding on his forehead.

Ren Ye wasn't phased at all and gripped his fist tightly, placing him in a position from being unable to move. His eyes were gradually filled with mockery and malice.

Ren Ye raised his head and whispered quietly into his ears while he was paralyzed, "Don't you wish to end up like them?"

He was referring to the men whom he beat up for him when he first came to this place.

He raised his lip into a malicious smirk, "I will put you in a much worse state than them."

"Try me."

Upon hearing this, Deng Ming lost his reasons and swung his arm toward Ren Ye's neck. His eyes became black and his face was ugly.

Ren Ye didn't put any effort as he took a step back swiftly, causing Deng Ming to battle with air instead of him.

"Since your father isn't here, you dare act this way toward me. I wonder how he will react when he finds out his son is causing trouble?"

"Stop now and I will spare you of embarrassment."

Ren Ye laughed maniacally as Deng Ming didn't hesitate to target him.

Deng Ming cried out loudly and attempted to kick Ren Ye's legs, in an attempt to break him down. Ren Ye lifted his legs and jumped upwards, the legs swung in the air.

The malicious smile remained on his face as Ren Ye lifted his hand and placed them under his chin, raising them slightly.

Ren Ye's eyes tinted with a glint of icy blue glow.

Such a beautiful face, what a shame it will be ruined for eternity.
