Chapter 33: The situation became worse.

Su Dajiang just had a surgery, so it was quite inconvenient for him to go out in the winter.

His wife and daughter supported him, one on each side, for fear that he would fall and aggravate his wound.

"Yanyan, go and borrow Uncle Yuan's tricycle. Let's use the tricycle. Your father won't be able to take the public bus like this," said Wei Guiqin.

"I think we should take a taxi." Su Hanyan looked at the cold weather. Would it not be too cold to take a tricycle? "Dad just had a surgery, and his body is too frail to withstand the cold."

"Just add two more blankets." Wei Guiqin calculated the money. Since her third son had yet to marry, she was saving the money for him.

Su Hanyan really admired the extent of her mother's stinginess. The latter treated her son better than her husband. Her heart was entirely devoted to her son.

"No need for that. If you can't bear to part with the money, spend mine. Wait for me; I'll go get a taxi." She let go of her father and went out to hail a cab.

Su Dajiang sighed inwardly. It was not wrong to say that his daughter was the apple of his eye.

He did not dote on his daughter for nothing.

Soon, Su Hanyan returned, and three two headed toward the entrance of the alley. A taxi was waiting there.

The three then got in the car and headed straight to People's Hospital.

Su Dajiang's surgery was performed by Jin Chen, and the attending physician was also him. She felt that it would be better for the same doctor to perform the follow-up checkup and remove the stitches on her father.

Alas, she found out when they arrived that Jin Chen was doing an operation. Hence, she had no choice but to look for another doctor to conduct the checkup and remove the stitches on her father.

Su Dajiang's wound was in his abdomen, so it was inconvenient for her to accompany him into the treatment room. With Wei Guiqin accompanying him, she decided to wait for them in the corridor.

The waiting time was always long. Just as she was feeling bored, she heard a few exclamations from the nurses' station.

"Dr. Lu, what happened to Dr. Jin? Wasn't he fine before he entered the operating room?"

"Why does he look so pale!"

"Is everything okay?"

The nurses immediately crowded around Jin Chen to see what was wrong with him.

Everyone wanted to get closer to him, but no one dared to step up to help him. This doctor was especially hot-tempered when he felt sick or tired, and most people would not dare to get close at this time.

"It's alright. It's nothing. Disperse!" Lu Feifan held Jin Chen's waist with one hand and supported his shoulder with the other. "He's just too tired, so he almost fainted at the operating table. Just let him rest."

The nurses looked at Jin Chen worriedly. While they admired him, they also sympathized with him.

The man in question had a splitting headache. The roaring in his ears became louder and louder. It was as if there was a waging war inside his head. Deafening sounds echoed everywhere.

His heart was anxious and his limbs were weak. He also seemed to have fallen into a strange and unfamiliar world—something akin to hell.

Although his eyes were wide open, his gaze was blank and his footsteps heavy. This sort of misery was countless times more painful than death.

"Jin Chen! Old Jin!" Lu Feifan could feel the weight on him getting heavier. He knew that the other's condition was getting worse. "Can you hold on? How are you?"

"Still alright." The man squeezed out two words from between his teeth.

"Then hold on a bit longer. I can't support more than this!" His face was flushed. Although this guy looked skinny, he had plenty of muscles underneath his clothes.

The combined mass of his muscles and bones weighed over a hundred catties and everything was pressing down on him.

Su Hanyan stood not too far away, her probing gaze landing on the doctor's face. Just like last time, his face was pale, and the dark circles under his eyes were worse than before, too. His brows were tightly furrowed, and he looked tired and in pain.
