122 Discontent

Yin Tao also noticed that Old Master Lin was a little unhappy. Although no one in her family was in politics, Yin Tao felt that her family was self-reliant and respectable. What was wrong with that?

Yin Tao was a little confused by Old Master Lin’s attitude. However, as she wasn’t Lin Jia’s real girlfriend, so there was no need to worry about these things.

“Are you still in university?” The Old Master asked again.

When Yin Tao heard the Old Master’s question, she suddenly felt a little nervous. If she had known earlier, she would have checked with Brother Lin Jia before entering the house. Her parents’ professions were already looked down upon. If she said that she was a forensic doctor, wouldn’t Old Master Lin be even more upset?

Yin Tao felt that in order to cooperate with Brother Lin Jia, she shouldn’t reveal her true profession. Just as she was thinking about how to lie about her profession, Lin Jia beat her to it and said, “Xiaotao became a full-time doctor during her internship in university. She’s now a forensic doctor and works in the branch station.”

Yin Tao was very surprised that Lin Jia would tell the truth. Actually, they weren’t really a couple to begin with, so there was no need for Lin Jia to tell Old Master Lin her true profession.

“Forensic doctor?” Old Master Lin frowned.

Yin Tao wasn’t surprised at all. Most people would be astonished to hear about her job.

“Yes, Grandpa. I work for the police. I’m a forensic doctor now.”

There was no need for Yin Tao to avoid talking about her profession anymore. Her conscience was clear and there was nothing embarrassing about being a forensic doctor.

Old Master Lin sighed. The initial enthusiasm on his face when Yin Tao entered the room had gradually faded.

“I don’t understand what’s going on with you young people. If you want to be with Lin Jia, it’s best if you transfer to work for the city government. That way, you can spend more time together.”

Old Master Lin sat back on the rattan chair. Out of basic manners, he didn’t chase Yin Tao away immediately. However, with his old-fashioned mindset, it was very difficult for him to accept Yin Tao.

“Grandfather, if I get together with Xiaotao, I hope that you can respect her choice, including my parents. I don’t want anyone to interfere.” Lin Jia could tell that her grandfather was unhappy with Yin Tao, and his tone became a little harsher.

“Let’s talk about it when your relationship bears fruits…” Old Master Lin flipped open the book in his hand and ignored Yin Tao and Lin Jia.

Yin Tao didn’t know why Lin Jia would suddenly rebuke Grandpa Lin. After all, she was only called in to put up this act at the eleventh hour. There was actually no need for Lin Jia to do this. Even if his family accepted her, the two of them couldn’t really be together.

“Grandfather, Xiaotao and I will go down first. I will tell you when the banquet begins.” Lin Jia nodded gently and was about to leave with Yin Tao when Grandpa Lin suddenly stopped him.

“Lin Jia, stay back. I have something to tell you.”

Lin Jia glanced at Yin Tao and was somewhat dissatisfied with his grandfather’s actions.

“It’s fine, Brother Lin Jia. I’ll wait for you outside.” Yin Tao was afraid that Lin Jia would make Grandpa Lin unhappy, so after bidding farewell to Old Master Lin, she slowly walked out of the room.

Closing the lounge door gently, Yin Tao heaved a long sigh of relief.

“It won’t be easy for anyone to win Brother Lin Jia’s family’s approval for marriage…” Yin Tao couldn’t help but mutter softly.

She felt so uneasy the minute she entered the room. Old Master Lin clearly looked down on her. It seemed that Brother Lin Jia’s wish to get rid of the blind dates was going to fail.

“Police sister?” A slender girl called out from behind Yin Tao.

Yin Tao turned around and saw a familiar face.

“It’s you.” Yin Tao looked at the woman with thick makeup in front of her and called out her name in surprise. “Zhang Rui?”

“It’s really you, police sister.” Zhang Rui sized up Yin Tao and felt that she looked so different from the time at the police station.

“Your dress was designed by Anaise from France, right? You have good taste. This dress costs seven figures.” Zhang Rui walked closer and carefully looked at Yin Tao’s dress. She said enviously, “Your chest looks real. I didn’t expect you to have such a good figure even though you’re not tall.”

Yin Tao couldn’t stand Zhang Rui’s mannerisms, so she subconsciously took a few steps back and asked, “Why are you here?”

“Sigh, isn’t this Special Assistant Lin’s grandfather’s birthday banquet? My father brought me here to network with them.” Zhang Rui didn’t like such occasions, so she hid on the second floor. She didn’t expect to meet the police officer she had met at the police station.

Yin Tao was surprised that Zhang Rui could be so straightforward. The makeup on her face was a little thick, and Yin Tao felt that Zhang Rui would look even better if she had lighter makeup. At the very least, she would look more like a good person.
