121 Girlfriend

All eyes were on Yin Tao and Feng Jing. Yin Ning was extremely jealous. She was dressed to kill, but Yin Yao still got all the attention.

“Little sister Xiaotao, thank you for coming.”

Yin Tao felt a little embarrassed that Lin Jia was so polite and formal. Feeling the gazes of many people, Yin Tao nervously stood behind Feng Jing.

“Can you accompany me to see Grandfather?” Lin Jia didn’t speak loudly, but Yin Tao and Feng Jing could hear her clearly.

!!

“Alright, Brother Lin Jia.” Yin Tao remembered her pact with Lin Jia. Her purpose for attending the birthday banquet was to pretend to be Lin Jia’s girlfriend and reassure Grandpa Lin.

Feng Jing didn’t understand what Lin Jia meant. He should be the one to see Grandpa Lin. Since when did Yin Tao interact with Grandpa Lin?

Just as he was about to ask, Yin Hao stopped him and said, “Feng Jing, Xi Deng and the others were looking for you just now. Let’s go together.”

Feng Jing was pulled away by Yin Hao while Yin Tao followed behind Lin Jia to Grandpa Lin’s lounge upstairs.

“Brother Lin Jia, do I need to take note of anything?” Yin Tao suddenly felt a little nervous as she walked to the door.

“No need. You just need to stand beside me.” Lin Jia still had a smile on his face. As usual, it was very warm and reassuring.

“Grandpa, I brought Xiaotao here.”

Lin Jia opened the door and said to the old man sitting on the rattan chair by the bed. He had wanted to hold Yin Tao’s hand, but he hesitated and stood aside, only smiling at Yin Tao.

“Hello, Grandpa.” Yin Tao looked at the old man resting on the rattan chair and politely greeted him.

Grandpa Lin, who was sitting on the rattan chair, slowly opened his eyes. He glanced at the girl beside Lin Jia and got up from the chair. “Hello, Xiaotao. Lin Jia has told me alot about you. I thought he was lying to me. I didn’t expect him to have such a pretty girlfriend.”

Yin Tao sized up the old man in front of her. Although he was in his eighties, he was in good spirits and spoke clearly. He wore a dark gray Chinese-style robe and had a book of classics in his hand. He seemed to like literature.

Yin Tao remembered that Feng Jing had casually mentioned that Lin Jia was from an aristocratic family that was involved in politics. Not only was his grandfather an honorary professor in a university, he was also a retired politician. However, he kept a low profile.

“Grandpa, I’ve already said that I’m not lying to you. Xiaotao is pretty and sensible. She’s much better than those girls you introduced to me.” Lin Jia smiled and teased the old man. “Grandpa, don’t worry in the future. I’ll get along well with Xiaotao. You don’t have to worry about my personal life anymore.”

“Child, how can you speak without thinking!” Old Master Lin was a little angry, but he maintained his composure. “All I want is for you to get a good wife. You’re already 30 years old. Although personal problems don’t represent everything, they will also affect your career. A good wife would be a great support.”

Although Old Master Lin’s words were straightforward, they were the truth. Since Lin Jia was planning to enter politics, he had to take care of his family matters first. A competent and virtuous wife was necessary for the political scene.

“I understand, Grandpa. If Xiaotao and I are still together in two years, we’ll get married, okay?” Lin Jia coaxed.

“You’ll be 32 in two years. Are you really not in a hurry?” Old Master Lin looked at Lin Jia angrily and shook his head. He turned around and asked Yin Tao to sit down.

“Child, how old are you?”

Yin Tao glanced at Lin Jia and noticed that he wasn’t anxious or uneasy, so she told the truth. “23 years old, Grandpa.”

“Only 23…” Old Master Lin was deep in thought. He said to Yin Tao worriedly, “Lin Jia is seven years older than you. Won’t your family mind?”

Yin Tao shook her head. Since she was here to put up an act, there was no reason for her to feel bad about such trivial matters.

“How are your parents? How many people are there in the family?” Old Master Lin asked.

“My father is a businessman, and my mother used to be a dancer. I also have an older brother and a younger sister.” Yin Tao had no way of fabricating her personal information, so she could only tell him the truth.

When Old Master Lin heard about Yin Tao’s parents’ profession, he was clearly a little dissatisfied, but he maintained his composure. “Has your elder brother graduated?”

“My brother is already 28 years old. He also works for my father’s company now. He and Brother Lin Jia are also friends.”
