113 Probe

“Have you finished your statement?” Feng Jing asked Le Yuan without giving Yin Tao a chance to speak.

“Yes, I’ve shared everything I could think of before and after Yang Ying’s disappearance. I hope I can help.” Le Yuan couldn’t help but look sad when she mentioned her good friend. “Can we confirm the suspect now? Yang Ying is usually very kind, it is unlikely for her to make enemies.”

“I’m sorry, but it’s not convenient for me to tell you.” Feng Jing maintained a professional front and didn’t intend to tell Le Yuan.

Yin Tao tactfully remained silent as she stood behind Feng Jing.

!!

Le Yuan looked at the aloof Feng Jing in front of her and felt very estranged from him.

“Feng Jing, it’s noon. Let’s have lunch together. I still have something to talk to you about.” Le Yuan glanced at her cell phone and forced a smile on her haggard face. She was a heartbreaking sight.

Yin Tao wasn’t sure if she should leave or not. Le Yuan’s attitude towards her wasn’t very friendly, and she wouldn’t definitely wouldn’t ask her along for a meal. It wasn’t as if Yin Tao couldn’t tell.

“I’ve eaten.” Feng Jing felt Yin Tao’s discomfort and wanted to leave with her.

“You’re always so busy with work that you forget to eat. Grandpa Feng told me to take care of you. If you don’t eat on time, I’ll tell on you.” Le Yuan obviously didn’t believe what Feng Jing said. He was known to be so engrossed with work that he didn’t eat or sleep.

“I really did. I ate rice noodles with Xiaoyin.” Feng Jing’s tone was still solemn, but Yin Tao and Le Yuan both looked a bit upset.

Yin Tao was anxious. She didn’t know if Feng Jing could see Le Yuan’s feelings towards her. What he just said would only make Le Yuan hate her more?

Yin Tao felt Le Yuan’s gaze and didn’t dare to raise her head. She really couldn’t stand such a scene.

In the past, Yin Tao would cringe when she saw such love triangles in novels. She didn’t know what was the point of fighting. Wasn’t it better to just focus on one’s career?

Yin Tao couldn’t understand the melodramatic plots of romance novels. In her opinion, it was better to work hard than to find a man.

“I didn’t expect forensic doctors to work so hard.” Le Yuan forced a smile. “I thought forensic doctors only dissected corpses every day, but they actually had to follow the police back and forth to handle cases.”

“A forensic doctor is also a police officer. We still have matters to attend to, so we’ll take our leave first.” Feng Jing’s tone was aloof. He didn’t care about Le Yuan’s feelings and gestured for Yin Tao to follow him.

“Feng Jing, it’s Lin Jia’s grandfather’s birthday tomorrow!” Le Yuan was very unhappy that Feng Jing and Yin Tao are leaving together. “Will you come? Grandpa Lin said that he hasn’t seen you in a long time.”

“It depends on my schedule.” Feng Jing left the police station with Yin Tao without looking back.

Yin Tao didn’t dare to speak until she got into the car. She kept feeling that Captain Feng wasn’t in a good mood.

“You don’t have to take Le Yuan’s words to heart. There’s nothing wrong with being a forensic doctor.” Seeing Yin Tao’s silence, Feng Jing thought that she was unhappy because of Le Yuan’s words.

Yin Tao never expected that Feng Jing would misunderstand. She shook her head and explained, “I don’t care about it. Forensics is my own choice. I like this job very much and don’t care about what others say.”

Yin Tao felt that Le Yuan wasn’t discriminating against her profession, instead she was upset over Captain Feng. “Brother Feng, does Doctor Le… like you?”

Feng Jing had just started the car when he heard what Yin Tao said. He turned his head to look at her and explained, “I don’t like her. I don’t like her now, and I won’t in the future.”

Yin Tao only wanted to remind Feng Jing, afraid that he didn’t see Le Yuan’s thoughts. She never expected that Feng Jing would make his stand clear.

“I don’t mean anything else.” Yin Tao tugged at the corner of her clothes nervously. She felt that there was no need for Feng Jing to tell her this. “You two are actually quite compatible. One is a police officer, and the other is a doctor.”

Feng Jing looked at Yin Tao, who had a guilty conscience, and burrowed his brows unconsciously. “Isn’t a forensic doctor more compatible with a police? The two of them can directly handle a case together.”

Feng Jing’s voice reverberated in Yin Tao’s mind and she felt her heart racing. This time, Yin Tao was certain that Feng Jing was flirting with her.

“Brother Feng, don’t tell me you like… forensic doctors?” Yin Tao wanted to slap herself after saying that. Even if she didn’t dare to ask him if he liked her, she still shouldn’t have asked such a stupid question as whether he liked forensic doctors.

“It’s better than a doctor. At the very least, it will be helpful for me to handle cases.” Feng Jing looked at Yin Tao, whose face had turned red. He couldn’t help but smile as he replied. Then, he started the car.
