Chapter 62: His Smile

My boss and I finished changing then started walking over to the teleportation array.

We entered the building and stood in the middle of the array, the array started to glow while a static noise was heard screaming. I closed my eyes once again and waited till the sounds finally stopped.

Once the noise came to an end I reopened my eyes to see we were inside quite a small room. I looked around and saw multiple knights surrounding us, four were on each side with weapons in hand.

They looked to be the same knights seen around campus as well. I looked over to my boss to see he was already leaving the building.

I quickly followed suit as I didn't wish to be left alone with them.

We exited the building and was met with a bright sun beaming on my face as many citizens were walking the streets.

Smiles were seen all around while everyone was wearing their usual white attire.

It was truly a bizarre sight to witness after coming back from such a shithole. I believed that the city belonged to these people, yet they act as if nothing is happening over there.

I couldn't help but think back to when my boss called his people animals, I started to see why.

We started walking back to the shop and I noticed that we had been teleported to a different building rather than returning to original one. I was curious as to the reason but didn't bother asking.

I was exhausted and in a lot of pain which I wanted to take care of immediately.

While walking I managed to spot a few humans mixed in the large crowds of people. It seemed many were looking for jobs and talking to the local citizens.

I looked harder to see if I could spot any other races, but only humans came into view.

"Hey isn't that Azrail?!" A voice that sent chills down my spine sounded out from behind me.

It seemed my boss heard the women's voice as well, he looked down on me with a massive smile on his face. I looked back at him with a plain expression on my own.

'Don't you fucking dare....' I said in my mind hoping my boss would be able to hear my thoughts.

I felt like he did read my mind as his smile started to disappear.

"Oh Azrail you did such an amazing job today!" The man said in a very loud tone.

The smile reappeared and had gotten a lot larger. My boss was a jokester, but I seriously did not find this one funny.

'Just you wait douchebag, I'll remember this...' I was a grudge holder and a petty one at that. I was going to make sure I got my revenge, once I had this thought I started smiling back at my boss.

I heard many footsteps come rushing from behind me and slowly started to turn around to face the group.

"Azrail I knew it was you! Oh my what happened to you are you okay?" Lucy asked, while her group of friends were standing next to her.

'How the hell does she know I'm injured? All of my wounds should be hidden and I didn't feel anything on face...'

"Diggory got hurt during work today, I will say though I didn't think he had any friends! All of you seem to be a different race as well, tell me what all of you are?" My boss asked in an over friendly manner, in our first meeting he was nothing like this.

"During work? Wow Azrail you already found a job I'm impressed! By the way sir we are Elves, I wouldn't call us friends just yet considering we only met yesterday, but Azrail seems like a great guy." Lucy said in a sweet voice while having a smile on her face.

"Elves? How interesting, but here why don't you follow us to my shop, I still need to give him his pay. After that all of you could take him to the hospital to get his wounds healed. Will that work for you?"

'You fucking bastard..... You are pushing this too far.'

"What do all of you think? I can accompany Azrail while everyone does their own thing." Lucy said to her group which seemed to always follow her around.

They all started looking at one another then each gave their response.

"Okay, I'm going to keep looking for a job."

"Same here."

"I need to go eat something I'm starving."

Each one of her friends gave their reason and started walking away leaving only my boss, her, and myself.

"I guess it's just us now, let's get going." My boss said as we continued walking back to the shop.

Lucy was on my right and my boss was ahead of us, I was truly angered by the current situation. I had many questions about what her goals were, but I was too weak to confront her about these things.

We made our way to my boss's shop, no one talked during the entire time making everything feel more awkward.

"Here you two wait out here while I go get the money, I'll be quick." My boss said and entered his store.

"You know Azrail I didn't think you would end up getting a job before I did."

"Me either, I got lucky finding the man and he ended up hiring me."

"I suppose that is luck, well maybe I could start working here alongside you. Tell me what does he have you doing?"

"I don't think so, also I don't think I'm allowed to answer that."

Lucy and I were looking at one another which had me on edge, I kept my guard up and made sure to calm my nerves.

My boss had came out before she was about to respond, he handed me ten white paper bills which had the number 100 written in the middle with blue coloring. The bills looked simple in design with an ocean seeming to be drawn in its background.

"We will meet at the same time tomorrow, make sure to get proper rest Diggory." My boss said and went to go back inside the store.

"Wait sir, are you still hiring? I'm still looking for a job and can assure I will be capable for the job."

I was staring at my boss making sure my eyes were like daggers, I couldn't allow him to hire her.

"Hmmmmm, I don't think so sadly. I really only had room for Diggory, I apologize." My boss responded and made his way back inside of the shop.

I looked over to Lucy and saw that she looked quite upset for some odd reason.

"Told you." I said while trying to maintain a plain expression even though I wanted to smile.

'Really dumbass... I come back to see this sorry sight.' My friends dead voice forcibly entered my thoughts while I saw him start to appear behind Lucy.

My mood instantly got darker, I tried to get rid of the pest by forgetting what he looked like.

'It won't work, you can't get me to leave that big head of yours. I will mention that I'm shocked that you are so afraid of someone. Why is that? She's an elf as well, this is my first time seeing one. Damn I won't lie, this girl is fucking hooooottttttt.' He said while eyeing up Lucy from top to bottom.

I could feel my rage start building up, it was starting to slip from my control.

'So she controls the space element huh, although that's impressive I believe my element surpasses hers. Why are you scared then? I know you were never scared of me, was it because you knew I couldn't control it?'
