Chapter 53: Collectors Dream (2)

"Well then let's have you sign this contract, after that I will give you your gear and we can get this day started."

My boss had handed me a single piece of paper and a pen. I took the paper and started to read it.

Most of the page was simply going over how my boss was not liable for my death or any injuries I sustain during working hours. My pay was also included in the document, I would be receiving a base weekly pay of 5,000 dollars. I would also receive 15 percent of the earnings of any relic I find which seemed very reasonable to me.

He wasn't lying though when he said this job would be paying well. To actually enter a class you'll have to pay a fee of 50 dollars, if I wanted to take 4 classes per day that would only be 200 dollars.

'I would only be spending one grand per week for school, I would still have four grand left over. I'm glad I decided to stick with this job.'

I signed my name at the bottom of the paper and slid it back to my boss.

He then proceeded to put the paper away and opened a drawer to pull out a white backpack. It had looked the same as the one the academy gave us, so I knew it was high quality.

"This will have all of your gear, but you'll have to wait to put it on. When you're in public areas, only wearing white citizen clothing is allowed unless you are given permission from the government. We will have to stop by a weapons store as well, you can pick out what you want from there and I will be paying for it."

I put on the backpack while my boss had gotten up from his chair. He had opened another drawer and pulled out yet another backpack and put it on himself.

"Let's get going."

My boss and I had left the store, I simply followed him through the city until we had arrived at yet another building. This building was black and had no name engraved on it.

We entered the building and the first thing I had noticed was the teleportation array on the floor. It looked exactly like the one I used, but a whole lot bigger.

The room only had the teleportation array and nothing else. We are also the only two inside, my boss had walked over and stood on the middle of array. I walked over as well, once I reached him the array had started to glow immediately.

A loud static noise was the only thing that I heard and my vision started turning white.

I closed my eyes and withstood the loud noise the array was giving off, after a few seconds the noise had finally came to an end.

I opened my eyes to see that we were in a room that appeared to look the exact same as the one we were just in.

My boss turned around and started walking to the doors, I followed behind him once again.

When I stepped outside, I was greeted by pure darkness. I started to enhance my vision with Ki and I could finally start to see. It had looked like we were in the middle of nowhere, only a few one story buildings could be seen and it appeared to me that we were in a dense forest.

'How far did we teleport? Shit I can still barely see anything even with my vision enhanced.'

"How's your sight?"

"I can only see up to a couple hundred feet."

"Okay that will be enough for now, don't worry darkness works in our favor here. The mist here in this forest makes it hard to see, your sensing ability is also affected quite heavily as well. Don't let this scare you though, our enemies have the same disadvantage."

"Will it be like this the entire time?"

"No, only for half of the day. Once the sun starts coming up the mist usually tends to disappear. However, there have been times where it stays. Let's get moving though we need to get your weapons and start our search."

We started our walk again over to one of the small buildings that was close from the one we had just left.

When we had arrived in front of the building, I noticed cracks were all over it. It seemed like the building was quite old, the doors weren't even made out of glass either instead they were made out of wood.

The inside was no different, cracks were all over the floor with grass and roots peeking through them. The tables that held different type of weapons seemed like they would break any second.

I looked around and saw that there wasn't any employee in this store, it seemed like we were the only ones inside.

"Alright pick a weapon already we can't stand here all day."

I started looking over my options and to be frank I didn't have many.

There were a few axes, spears, lances, and longswords. All seemed to be made out of the same black material, I had walked over to the longswords and unsheathed one.

The blade was jet black and sharp on both sides, the blade was thin as well which made the sword feel as light as a feather.

The blades length however was about 25 inches, I have never used a sword thing long before. The rest of the blades were all the same size, so I just decided to pick one of them.

I did however get upset when I didn't find any firearms, using them was second nature to me.

The reason they are so important is because if you run out of energy you are left completely defenseless. When you have nothing left in the tank and your opponent does, you are done for. Firearms are what make humanity special, it allows us to conserve energy and fight longer battles.

"A longblade is a good choice, now then go into your backpack and equip your gear. I waited as well so you don't feel lonely while changing." I looked over to my boss and saw he had a massive smile on his face while saying that.

'What a weird guy.'

I took off my backpack and opened it up to see my gear. When looking inside I saw all obsidian black clothing and a pair of boots. There were also 2 bayonet knifes and there were a couple of packaged meals.

I took out the trench coat and pants then started to undress myself.

As I was putting on my gear I felt it's mana enter my body, the clothes then started to get smaller to fit my body perfectly.

"Damn boy you are jacked, you should be proud to have such a body. Here look at mine, if you stop working out you might look like this HAHAHAHAHA!"

During his laugh I also heard him slapping his stomach behind me, but I did not dare to turn around as I didn't want to see such a sight.

"Look Diggory, look at this sexy body HAHAHAHAA!"

I finished putting on all of my gear while my boss was busy feeling himself up.

The trench coat also had a hood on it, so I decided to put it to use. Now I simply had to figure out where I was going to place my weapons.
