Chapter 43: Rule Book

I was sitting at my dinner table with my head resting on the rule book, it had taken me 2 whole hours to read through the thing.

This place was going to be a living nightmare, with how the rules were set up I could tell this wasn't just a place for learning. No, this place was meant for survival of the fittest and quite frankly humans were the weakest race here.

I knew our group was strong, but I don't think it is enough to contend with the other races.

The rules stated that fighting was aloud, however you are not allowed to kill anyone and if you do then you will get prosecuted under the Fallen Empire's law. Basically, if you kill anyone then you receive the death penalty unless using lethal force was necessary.

Even though you aren't allowed to kill that doesn't mean you can't cripple someone so badly that they'd rather be dead and that was the scary part.

Fights can't happen everywhere though, there are only two ways to initiate it. The first being a duel which is a supervised battle in front of spectators and the second is basically a street fight. You are able to fight anyone you'd like if there is no one around from the Fallem Empire, basically you're in a war ground if you find yourself alone.

Once a Fallem Empire citizen is on the scene the fight must stop, if it continues there will be consequences on both sides. The consequences were never stated in the rule book.

Money is also quite a big factor in this academy, each student is given a card which will hold all of their money. The cards currently don't have a single dime in them, you must find a job within the country and receive money that way. To even enter your classes, you will have to pay a fee, to use the gym you will have to pay a fee, the only things that are free are living expenses, eating at the cafeteria, and going to the hospital or infirmary.

The academy also does not help you with finding a job, it merely says go outside and find one yourself which uses your skillset.

The only good thing about this damn place they will not expel you for bad grades, if you manage to work jobs the entire school year than that will be enough to pass you onto the next year.

You are also held accountability at the same level as a Fallem Empire citizen if you break any laws while you are outside of the academy grounds. There is no favoritism at all when it comes to these circumstances.

With so much going on, I had no clue on how I would complete my mission. Not only that but even being the safe guardian over so many kids was impossible.

There was simply too much on my plate, I would have to build a solid foundation before I could start doing other things. My brain had started to hurt with all the thinking I've been doing today.

'I should go look for a job now, once I have a job and build up some money then I will start stalking the Elves. If there is a fight I can sense with humans, I will also help as well unless they opposing side is too strong. This is the best solution I can think of currently...'

I picked up my head and walked over to my window to see if anyone was walking on campus grounds.

The first thing that I noticed was the number of knights scattered across the campus grounds. It seemed like they were patrolling every inch of the campus to prevent fights from breaking out.

I did end up seeing quite a few humans outside already and they were all in groups it seemed, no one was walking around alone. I did not see any other race though, so I tried enhancing my vision and looked over to their dorm buildings.

As I tried to peer into their dorms my vision started to heavily blur making me look away from the buildings.

I was confused as to why that would have happened, so I decided to release my mana and I figured out the reasoning behind it. They were multiple arrays on this entire building, meaning the others had the same ones as well.

It seemed like security was quite tight on this entire campus which didn't really surprise me. Although now with my mana released, I started to sense mana fluctuations coming from an area with no knights.

I could sense three massive mana pools alongside 2 medium sized ones.

'No way....A fight already broke out? What the hell are these damn knights doing I know they can sense it! Shit I know those are humans too considering how close the distance is to our dorm. FUCK!'

I opened my window and immediately jumped out to get a better idea on the situation and if forced join the fight.

.................

POV: Lelion Albright

"You two humans are truly disgusting, do you know the sin you two have committed? If you had done this in our own land, you would have already had your heads cut off." I stated I as looked down at the two filthy humans who were bowing at my feet.

They had tried to put up a fight, but with their pathetic mana levels they have stood no chance. With the sin they have committed, I was going to make sure they met the proper consequences.

I had closed my eyes and planned to burn the skin off these creatures.

Since I could not kill them, I thought this would be a good punishment. Although I hated to do these things, my father had always told me that a good king must always punish those personally who disrespect the royal family.

I had taken a few steps back and slowly opened my palm. I released the fire element in a controlled manner as to make sure I did not kill them.

After a few seconds I heard no screams which was impossible from these two low life's. I quickly opened my eyes and saw that they weren't there anymore, only the scorched ground was in my vison.

I looked to my right and saw that both of my underlings were knocked out. I quickly used my mana to sense what was around me and I sensed an opposing figure directly to my back.

I could sense the other two humans running off, but a new one was right behind me, simply staring at the back of my head.

I slowly turned around and looked down a bit to see who could go under my detection so quickly.

A pair of cold ruthless grey eyes met my own, the human had a heavily scarred face as well. The clothes he was wearing showed that he had dense muscles, I knew this human was strong, very strong in fact.

"I do not wish to fight with you human, those two have committed a grave sin to my royal family. I must give them punishment, I hope you understand this."

"Sin? Tell me Elf, what sin have those two done which made you want to burn them alive...." The man said in a deep cold voice which sent chills down my entire body.

'I have never sensed this amount of rage before, could my actions really have made him this angry?'
