Chapter 38: Discussion
POV: William Hunt
I had picked up Azrail's body and carried him all the way to my car. My phone has a tracking device in it, so the VIA were already here. The amount of blacked out vehicles and militarized trucks numbered in the hundreds.
A medical team came up to me and took Azrail out of my hands then carried him to their viechle. We didn't need to speak as I had many people waiting on my orders.
Many men and women started to gather in front of me as well as a squad from the military.
"Alright listen closely, I need one team to recover an Elf's dead body in the forest. Use the map on your phones, the Elf's body will be marked. I need another team to assist that team as to make sure nothing happens. As for the rest of you, form a perimeter around this entire area and have teams search inside of it. We don't know if there are any more Elves hiding so make the search thorough. As usual go through level five protocol. As for the military personal I'll have to speak with you privately."
Everyone started to discuss with one another about which job they were going to do and started to leave to fulfill my orders. I looked over to the operators who were still waiting for orders.
This special forces unit was called the Reaper Core, as the name implies it's a specialized group made for hunting down high priority targets. These targets are usually groups or individuals that pose a great amount of threat.
These operators don't show their faces, it is always covered by a mask and instead of having names they go by numbers. I plan for Azrail to join this group if we do go to war with the Elves.
After a minute only myself and the reapers could be seen, so I decided to give them a rundown on their task.
"An Elf managed to escape, this Elf is unique and can control the space element. I have no clue where she could possibly be but capturing her would be greatly beneficial. If you do manage to find her do not to kill her, I believe she may be royalty so only capturing is allowed. There is a pin on your maps that shows where she may have used her ability, I'd start your search there. Any questions?"
"What if we aren't able to capture her? Do we simply run?"
"Correct, you cannot kill her no matter what, so be careful when deciding if you want to engage with her." I answered the man's question and the squad vanished from where they were standing.
'This isn't even one of their best squads either, those squads are still in Maru. Yet they still give me the chills, well what's to be expected when they are considered to be one of the best special forces units Volestia has.'
Now it was only a waiting game to see if anything would come out of this. I believe this should be a wakeup call for the higher ups in this nation.
Our leader was a great one but could be too passive at times making situations like this happen far too often. The Elves would barely get any consequences from this which angered me the most.
They simply run around and do whatever they fucking want. If we were doing this in their land, they would have already invaded us.
I felt my phone start to vibrate and immediately pulled it out of my pocket. I flipped it open to see who was calling me and saw the name "Dick Gobbler". I knew this douchebag and sadly he was one of my coworkers.
I picked the phone and spoke to the man.
"What do you want."
"WILLIAM ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND! JUST WHO IN THE WORLD DO YOU THINK YOU ARE PULLING THE STUNT YOU JUST DID!"
I caught myself staring at the sky and started to wonder why I actually picked up the phone to listen to this low life.
"Calm down, I can hear your tits bouncing."
"SO HELP ME WILLIAM I'M GONNA FREAKING TEAR YOU TO SHREDS, GET YOUR BEHIND DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!"
"I can't dumbass, someone has to stay here to ma..."
"NO NO NO NO, LARRY IS ALREADY DOWN THERE TO COVER FOR YOU SO HURRY UP, DON'T MAKE ALL OF US COME DOWN THERE TO YOU BECAUSE IT WON'T BE PRETTY!" The man screamed over the phone and finally hung up.
I was truly lost for words, but I could feel veins bulging in both my hands. I then spotted a man simply standing in front me. It was Larry.
"Sorry William, everyone is waiting for you so I really would suggest that you go. I believe the president will be there as well so if you don't show up there will be consequences."
I looked at the old man and didn't even say a word to him, I merely walked past him to get to my car. That sly old fox is someone who I can never get a read on, so I just stay away from him.
'Fucking bastard, I still can't ever manage to find the guy even though he's almost 300 years old.'
I entered my car and started to drive back to headquarters.
When I arrived, I got out of my car and entered the main building then made my way to the elevator. Getting inside the elevator I pressed the button with the number 37 on it.
It made its way to the floor and the doors opened, I entered the room and noticed that the president's seat was empty.
My eyes scanned the black table and noticed 10 people were currently seated which were all men and their ages ranged from old to middle aged. This did not surprise me though considering I'm the youngest out of everyone with my position as a captain.
I took my seat at the bottom right of the table and I heard that annoying's man screaming fill the room.
"WILLIAM JUST WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED OUT THERE, WHY WOULD YOU REQUEST FOR THE REAPER CORE!"
"Stop yelling asshole, anyway two Elves were inside of the forest where Azrail was training. Azrail had managed to spot one and kill it, but the other one managed to escape. I should mention the one who escaped controls the space element and can speak the human language fluently. Even though the odds of finding her are slim I still called in the reapers because they have the highest chance to do this without getting massacred. "
"What! How could this happen.... You mean to tell me they have the capabilities to fully understand us?"
"That is correct, Azrail held a full conversation with her. Although most of it was her just shitting on our race."
Once I answered the man's question there was silence in the room, they knew I made the right call so not much had to be said. Although I did abuse my authority, the rest of them would have done the same.
"William, how's the child doing? Do you think he is able to accomplish what we are asking from him?" Said the man at the top left on the table, he was positioned right by president's seat.
I had to choose my words carefully as this old man held a lot of power in the VIA.
