Chapter 285

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The cannon rounds falling on the buildings had caused them to collapse like sandcastles. The 26th armored battalion’s tanks started to emerge from the black smoke rising from the wreckage. The division’s artillery strikes stopped.

Vroo~ Vroooo~

The 26th armored battalion that had moved along the 4-laned road moved in lines of two and mobilized at high speed while watching their flanks. Then, they detected enemy tanks in the distance.

-We have detected enemy tanks 8km ahead of us! They are Type 10 tanks! We have detected 12 so far, and there will be more. –

The 711 tank under the 7th company of the 26th armored battalion informed the entire battalion of their findings through the communication line.

-This is the battalion commander. The 7th company is to march forward and the 8th company will take a detour at the next intersection. The 9th company and HQ company will back up the 7th company. Over! –

Once the battalion commander gave his order, the 8th company turned right at the next intersection and started to take a detour.

“Master Sergeant Oh! It’s been a while since we engaged in an urban battle, sir,” Sergeant First Class Kim Young-joo, the gunner, spoke while checking the targets with his aiming periscope when Master Sergeant Oh Young-taek started to mark the enemy tanks as targets.

“Yeah, you’re right. Our last one was when we marched into Beijing, right?”

“Yes, you’re right, sir. Ha ha.”

“Sergeant First Class Kim! You are checking over the targets I have set, yeah?”

“Yes, sir. I saw them. Give me the order, and I can have target 1 taken out this instant, sir.”

“Wait until the company commander gives us the order to fire! You haven’t forgotten right? We got P.T-ed for firing on the enemy while ignoring the battalion commander’s orders!”

“Ah! How could I forget? That was all thanks to you, sir...”

Boom!

As they were passing through the intersection, a shock struck the side of the 712 tank. It started to lean left while on the move, but thanks to Sergeant Yeom Hoon-gi’s maneuvering skills, they were able to retain balance.

The shock had caused Master Sergeant Oh Young-taek to strike his head against the hard equipment. He felt dizzy but immediately turned his periscope to where the blast came from.

The enemy tanks were shown to be M4 Warthog tanks. The 20th armored division had received updated software for the friend or foe database from the mainland. The database was now updated to show the latest data.

-This is Crimson Ox 2! The 712 tank. Our 9 o’clock, distance at 4200! Multiple enemy tanks have been detected! –

“Hey! That must be America’s latest tank, the M4 Warthog, Wardog, or whatever.”

Master Sergeant Oh Young-taek reset the targets to the newly discovered M4 tanks. He did not wait for the company commander’s orders and ordered his gunner, Sergeant First Class Kim Young-joo to fire.

“Sergeant First Class Kim! Our 9 o’clock, distance at 4100. Targets 1 and 2 are set! Fire as soon as you finished aiming!”

As the 712 tank started to turn around towards the confirmed targets, Sergeant First Class Kim started to lock on to the 1st M4 U.S. marine tank. However, another powerful shock shook the 712 tank again. They lost their timing to fire and slid backward from the shock. The 16MJ class rail gun’s X-16 metal rounds were not capable of piercing the White Tiger tank’s armor, but the shock it delivered was still powerful.

While the 712 tank attempted to take aim again, another M4 Warthog tank fired a metal round from its rail gun.

Pew~ Pew~

Two X-16 metal rounds flew towards the 712 tank, but its active SECM jamming system caused them to miss. The 712 tank did not miss this chance and fired two photon rounds at the enemy.

Pew~ Pew~

The photon rounds from the 712 tank struck the upper turret and lower parts of the M4 Warthog tank 4.2km away. The Vegatinium alloy plating and double reactive plating had enhanced the M4 tanks’ defensive capabilities to the maximum. But the power of the photon cannon aboard the White Tiger tanks was incomparable to the plasma cluster rounds of the FAH-91SP Peregrine Falcon choppers. The photon round’s high heat ignored the double reactive plating and easily pierced through the Vegatinium plating to destroy the interior of the M4 tanks.

The enormous reactive heat of the photon matter caused the turret of the M4 Warthog tank to fall off, and the second photon round melted the crew aboard.

The M4 Warthog tank’s defensive capabilities were powerful against explosive rounds thanks to its Vegatinium plating and the double reactive platings, but these were useless against the photon rounds.

The M4 Warthog tanks that ambushed the K3 White Tiger tanks ended up collapsing onto the ground while emitting black smoke from their target’s retaliation. The surviving Warthog tanks started to back up and disappeared. They were using guerilla tactics.

The MEABs (Marine Expeditionary Armored Brigade) stationed across Tokyo, an area three times the size of Seoul, used the terrain to conduct urban guerilla tactics. It was the best tactic for the U.S. Marines, but for the Corean military, it was hard to deal with.

The Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A.

The Joint Chief of Staff heard the report about the Corean military marching into Tokyo. Commander Bob Perry from the global strike command returned to the Pentagon and was ordered to launch the missiles. Lieutenant-General Perry inputted the final launch codes and ordered his forces to fire the Minutemen III missiles.

The global strike command’s 20th air force’s F.E. Warren base all launched their LGM-30G ICBM Minutemen III missiles at once from their 91st missile force’s base at Malmstrom, Montana, and 90th missile force’s base at Minot, North Dakota. The missiles left their silos and started to emerge from the darkness while emitting white smoke everywhere.

Each missile force launched 30 rounds of LGM-30G ICBMs from their silos. Once they reached a certain altitude, the self-thrusters started to fire up. The missiles raised their speed to reach orbital velocity and disappeared from view. The white smoke trails outlined their trajectory in the dark sky. The parade of nuclear missiles did not end there.

The three missile forces that launched a total of 30 LGM-30G ICBMs all prepared to launch a second wave of missiles. The reloading process was swift since it was done through a revolver system. Within a few minutes, another set of missiles were ready for launch. Each missile force’s commander pressed the launch button for the second time.

At the 31st missile force’s underground silos at the Dobbins air force base in Georgia, dozens of Minutemen IV LGM-30F ICBMs developed in 2020 rose to the sky towards Corea. Out of the 100 rounds of Minutemen IV LGM-30F ICBMs launched, 50 of them were equipped with nuclear warheads.

Seoul Yongsan-ku CC tanker (Reconnaissance satellite CS-SS Apollo 1 satellite’s mission control).

“Sir! Multiple ICBM launches have been detected from the American mainland.”

“Their location?”

“There are four places in total. We are putting the coordinates on screen 1.”

The Apollo 1 satellite was searching the entire American continent with its multi-zone early warning mode. It detected the ICBMs launched within 2 minutes from launch.

Screen 1 showed the launch sites’ coordinates and the military bases there.

“Are we calculating the expected trajectories?” Colonel Park Jung-gyu, the director of the Apollo 1’s mission control, asked.

The operation control officer answered him immediately, “We are calculating the trajectories from missile 1, sir.”

“Please hurry!”

“Yes, sir.”

The main screen showed hundreds of missiles flying up to the atmosphere and entering its outer regions. It was a bit difficult to predict their targets at the moment, besides the obvious fact that they were all headed towards Corea.

A few minutes passed, and someone shouted, “The 1st missile’s trajectory has been calculated! The 1st targeted missile is headed towards the 10th fighter wing base at Suwon.”

“Great! Have the reconnaissance operators pull up the rest of the calculations on screen 1 as soon as they can.”

“Yes, sir.”

The 10 reconnaissance operators all started to type away at their keyboards under the officer’s orders. They started to put the completed calculations on screen 1. When they did so, the expected landing zone for each numbered missile covered the screen.

The intelligence coming onto the screen all pointed to Corea’s air force and naval bases. The Hades land defense satellite’s base was included as well.

“The Americans must have found out about the location of the Hades satellite as well.”

Director Park Jung-gyu glanced at the screen with his arms crossed. He thought that was enough information and gave another order.

“Datalink our intelligence to the Joint Chief of Staff and the Zeus 3 satellite mission control! Send the data to the Zeus 1 and 2 interception satellites mission control as well.”

“Yes, sir,” Operations Control Officer Kang Tae-hyung answered the director immediately and gave orders to the operators. “Targets set! Datalink to the Joint Chief of Staff and Zeus 3 first, then send the information to the remaining interception forces in order. Hurry!”

Seoul Yongsan-ku B2 bunker (ROK military joint command center)

The detection data from the American ICBM launches at the mainland came in. The number 5 screen at the command center showed hundreds of red lines drawing a trajectory towards Corea from the American mainland.

“I expected as much, but I didn’t think America would be this reckless, Mr. President!” National Security Director Oh Jang-soo, who was sitting next to the president, spoke.

“Yes. They are crossing a line they shouldn’t.”

“Mr. President!” Chairman Kang Ui-sik stood up from his seat and called the president. The president seemed to have known what the chairman was about to say and nodded instead of answering.

“We will begin now, sir.”

Chairman Kang Ui-sik received the president’s approval, and walked over to quietly speak to Vice-chairman Shin Sung-yong. The Vice-chairman started the highlight of the 5th stage of the RJ to 1945 operation without any hesitation.

“Zeus 3, begin operation ‘Wrath of God.’ Also, give the order to attack to the Lee Hui-hyung (SSP-091) and Choi Jun (SSP-092) as well,” Vice-chairman Shin gave his orders clearly and confidently.

America’s launch of ICBMs presumed to be nuclear weapons against Corea that did not own any nuclear weapons had made Corea use their ultimate weapon in a worldwide reveal.

February 24th, 2021, 12:45 (U.S.T 23rd 23:45)

The atmosphere 36,000km above Kansas, America (the CS-AD Zeus 3 tactical satellite’s location)

When orders to begin “Wrath of God” from Vice-chairman Shin Sung-yong was relayed to the mission control of Zeus 3, the satellite had been standing by for 30 minutes. It disabled its TCS (Transparent Cloaking System) and commenced its attack on mainland America.

Sixteen rounds of C-SE Epirus missiles were launched from the two eight-round MLRS launch tubes. They started to fall freely, then changed their trajectory towards their targets. When they were set, the powerful plasma rocket engines all lit up and the missiles started to fall towards the mainland. All 16 C-SE Epirus missile rounds were launched within a minute. They started to fall towards their targets and disappeared into the earth’s blue atmosphere.

The eight C-SH Zinog II missiles, which had a power of a 1Mk class nuclear bomb, flew out from two four-round MLRS launch tubes as well, and started to follow the Epirus missiles to America’s mainland.
