Chapter 261

February 20th, 2021, 08:15

The skies southwest of Yamaguchi Prefecture, Honshu, Japan

Twenty-four of the 38th fighter wing’s 110th battalion CF-21P Phoenix jets that were in charge of escorting the outer regions the second expeditionary force was headed towards, started to fly into inland Kyushu. 10km in the rear, the 159th battalion’s 24 CF-21P Phoenix jets and the 162nd aerial battalion’s 24 CF/A-25P Black Phoenix bombers were speeding behind to provide support.

As Major Choi Young-ho’s CF-21P Phoenix jet, which was adorned with the kill mark of a destroyer, flew in the center of the fingertip position of the Black Moon flight wing, orders from the commander of the 110th battalion came in. The six flight wings including the Black Moon started to get into the horizontal line Everest formation.

Despite the powerful jamming radar waves of the EA-18G electronic jets, the Phoenix jets had received data links from the Apollo 2, Apollo 3 reconnaissance satellites, E-737 early warning plane, Aegis destroyers, and the Hocula destroyers. The radar displays of the Phoenix jets clearly showed the enemy jets speeding west.

That was when the enemy jets launched 200 rounds of missiles. There were 288 rounds in total, and they were the next-generation air-to-ship AGM-158 LRASM Harpoon missiles with a range of 800km.

Lieutenant Colonel Yeon Ho-il, the commander of the 110th flight battalion, decided to leave the enemy air-to-ship missiles to the vessels at sea and ordered his jets to attack the enemy jets instead.

-White Angel 1! This is the commander. Each flight wing is to report as soon as they allot targets.

-Black Moon 1! Ready copy that.

-Blue Hole 1! Ready copy that.

-Red Fire 1! Ready copy that.

-Yellow Dog 1! Ready copy that.

-Green Latte 1! Ready copy that.

When each flight wing’s commander finished reporting in, the battalion commander finished communicating with the other flight battalions and gave the order to launch the missiles.

-White Angel 1, all flight wings fire!

With the battalion commander’s order, the 110th flight battalion’s Phoenix jets opened up their internal weapons hatch and launched their mid-range air-to-air S-AAM-200 rattlesnake missiles.

Each jet launched two rounds, totaling 48 rounds of Rattlesnake missiles. They flew off towards their targets while emitting blue flames, and dozens of white smoke trails marked the clear sky.

Also, the 159th flight battalion and the 162nd flight battalion coming from the rear launched 48 rounds of the rattlesnake missiles and flew east.

There was a total of 144 rounds of air-to-air Rattlesnake missiles. They flew at Mach 8 and tailed the enemy jets 100km away from them. The enemy jets started to spray flares and chaff while making evasive maneuvers, and the EA-18G Growler jets started to emit jamming radar signals in an attempt to fool the missiles.

Some of the S-AAM-200 rattlesnake missiles were affected by the powerful jamming signals and exploded at the wrong spot after losing their targets. However, most of the missiles made evasive maneuvers and flew freely towards the enemy jets.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The skies 14km southeast from Miyo, Honshu were being marked dizzily by white smoke trails from the entanglement of missiles and jets.

An S-AAM-200 Rattlesnake missile tailed the F-35C Lighting II jet that rapidly lowered its altitude after spraying its chaffs and flares.

Boom! Bang!

With an explosion, the F-35C Lightning II tore into pieces and exploded. The number of U.S. Navy jets aboard the carriers started to dwindle due to the S-AAM-200 Rattlesnake missiles. The distance between the jets closed to 80km.

The surviving 96 Super Hornet and Lighting II jets, excluding the 66 jets that were struck down by the first wave of Rattlesnake missile attacks, got a chance to retaliate after receiving aid from the GEO satellite.

However, the Corean Phoenix jets did not give them a chance and continued to launch their S-AAM-200 Rattlesnake missiles. While the two nations were fighting a fierce aerial battle, the Hocula destroyers under the 72nd maritime flotilla in charge of guarding the 2nd expeditionary forces opened up their wings and started to intercept the AGM-158 LRASM Harpoon missiles launched towards them.

The seas 62km northwest of Honshu, Tsuruga, Japan (the Japanese navy’s 1st carrier strike group’s location)

The 1st carrier strike group had gathered the half-sunken ships and redeployed them after conducting emergency repairs. The ships had sailed from the Uozu Port silently in a U formation along the northern Honshu seas last night under the U.S. – Japan joint military command’s orders and reached the Maizuru seas. Then, they started their mission as planned.

“Captain, we will commence the operation in 5 minutes, sir.”

Admiral Yamamoto Genzur was reminiscing about the battle at Dokdo Island at the Kaga (CV-2001)’s island bridge. When he heard Captain Oka Hiroshi’s report, he opened his eyes.

He glanced at the watch on his wrist and gave the order to the communications director after checking the time.

“We commence the operation after 5 minutes, as planned. Each vessel’s captain is to check the allotment of the targets once more.”

After Admiral Genzur gave a short order, he glanced at the flight deck from the window of the bridge.

There were over 60 F-35B Lightning II jets, and numerous other planes aboard the carrier when it was first deployed onto the field. However, there were now only 12 F-35B Lightning II jets, 2 EA-18G electronic warfare Growler jets, and 8 SH-60K anti-submarine choppers aboard. The flight deck seemed more empty than usual.

“I will have my revenge,” the admiral thought.

Admiral Yamamoto Genzur bit his lip and checked his watch again. It was 8:24 and the second hand was moving past the 40-second mark. He walked up to the communication console himself and gave the orders to the captains of the vessels personally.

“This is Admiral Genzur. All vessels on the fleet are to launch the missiles as planned. All vessels launch surface-to-ground missiles!”

Admiral Genzur’s voice was loud and powerful unlike his small stature, and it rang across the entire bridge.

With the order to launch, all five vessels launched their RGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles. They flew off into the sky, drawing a trail of white smoke.

After Japan became a normal nation in 2016, its navy started to operate three different types of RGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles after importing them from America. The first model was the RGM-109A (Block II TLAM-A) with the longest range. The second was the RGM-109E (Block IV TLAM-E) with a range of 1,700km, and the final one was the cluster round RGM-109D (Block III TLAM-D) with a range of 1,300km.

The missiles that had flown into the sky were the RGM-109E and RGM-109D missiles. Each vessel had launched 25 rounds of each model and totaled 125 rounds of tomahawk missiles. When the missiles reached their peak altitude, they started to slowly fall towards the surface.

The surroundings of the 1st carrier strike group were covered by thick white smoke.

The seas 319km north of Okinawa Island at Okinawa Prefecture, Japan (The U.S. Navy’s 3rd fleet 11th carrier strike group’s location).

The 11th carrier strike group’s Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) aircraft carrier had deployed 18 F-35C Lighting II jets. 13 Aegis destroyers and 2 escorting vessels under the carrier strike group launched different models of the RGM-109 Tomahawk missiles to retaliate against Corea’s attack.

Woosh, Woosh, Woosh.

In a short period, 13 vessels had launched numerous missiles. The sight of them flying towards the sky while emitting flames and white smoke continuously was one to behold. It was the first time America had launched so many of these expensive missiles without worrying about the cost since the Gulf War in 1990.

For a few minutes, sounds that shook the surface and air continued, and the number of missiles launched reached 380 rounds. To convert it to dollars, it was 600 million.

Based on the direction the missiles were headed, they were most likely targeting Jeju Island.

Five days ago, the Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) aircraft carrier had sunk from the torpedo attack made by the Yang Se-bong (SSP-85), and the 7th fleet’s 7th carrier strike group had to reorganize. Since there were no damages done to the Aegis cruiser, 2 Aegis destroyers, and a nuclear submarine, they were reassigned to the 11th carrier strike group. Now, the 11th carrier strike group was the most powerful one out of the operating naval forces America had deployed.

The seas 80km south of Yokosuka Port, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu, Japan

The three carrier strike groups that were stationed 30km away from each other simultaneously launched hundreds of RGM-109 Tomahawk missiles into the northwestern sky.

Over 700 missiles were launched into the sky. In a few minutes, a billion dollars’ worth of missiles had been launched. Modern warfare was considered a financial war, and this was proof. At least 20 billion dollars must have been spent in the U.S Japan joint military’s assault. Why was America spending such copious amounts in the war against Corea? Was it to aid their ally Japan? That was only an excuse for the foreign press, as they had a different agenda in mind.

The first reason was that the Corean government knew of the existence of the USSC organization, which should be kept secret, and the second was the nation’s scientific technology. The USSC had so far privatized the alien technology and was able to control the U.S. this whole time. However, Corean technology was now making the USSC’s obsolete. Therefore, the U.S. was hell-bent on taking down Corea, no matter the cost.

It didn’t matter how much money was being spent. If the U.S. defeated Corea in the war and took its scientific technology, then the money spent on the war would be nothing compared to the profits made.

The skies above Busan (altitude 12,000km)

Four flat, sleek, and triangular B-3 Tarantula space stealth bombers were flying above the Corean atmosphere.

The bombers were coated with the special stealth paint applied on the F-22SR Super Raptors as well, and they were equipped with powerful ECM radar capabilities. The B-3 Tarantula was a tactical bomber that could not be detected by any radar operated by the North American space forces command. This craft had been standing by over Corea’s atmosphere for an hour waiting for the order to attack.

-This is the North American space forces command. Calling number X, 2, 2 9, 1, 0 authorizing to commence operation Red Sun, over.

-This is Tarantula 01, callsign number D, 2, 0, 5, 3, 6, A. Confirming authorization. Over.

Once the four B-3 Tarantula bombers received authorization, they started to slowly lower their altitude while heading towards their destination and entered into the atmosphere. The heat from the friction had caused the lower part of the B-3 bombers to turn bright red. Within a few minutes, the B-3 Tarantula bombers arrived 80km above their targets and flew steadily at low speeds. The 4 internal weapons pairings started to open up.

“Targets locked on!”
